About Risa Watches
Risa Watches was founded in 2017 by a watch enthusiast, as one of three initial brands, to bring Denmark to the forefront of watchmaking.
The brand was named after a recreational planet from Star Trek, to signal that watches are to be enjoyed.
The brand was initially planned to be in the more affordable price ranges, but should now be entry-level to mid-tier luxury.
Of course production will start out to be outsourced. The plan is to team up with companies in Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
Timeline
Founded in the Danish town of Høng
Looking for partners that we want to work with to produce our watches
Approached by potential partner from China. Initial discovery and negotiations started
Initial design ideas, design language
Negotiations with potential partner from China stopped. Their capabilities didn't quite meet our minimal demands
Found a (yet undisclosed) potential partner that we would eventually approach. A Swiss company that could produce all parts and do all assembly
Decided not to market watches as Swiss made, not even on the dials. It's a Danish brand and the Swiss made marketing seems a bit hollow at this point
Research into which materials should ideally be used
We now know which materials we want to use ideally (yet undisclosed), however we still need to know if things are possible
Unfortunately we discovered that the potential partner found is no longer an option. We expect the pandemic to be the cause
Found a new (yet undisclosed) potential partner that we would eventually approach. A German company that could produce at least cases, dials, hands etc. and do assembly
Found another (yet undisclosed) potential partner that we would eventually approach. A Swiss company that could produce movements
We have established a list of banned countries. Our watches are not allowed to be owned by citizens of those countries or worn in those countries. Violation of this ban will result in the serial numbers in question will be deemed fake. Russia and Belarus will be on this ban list indefinitely.
We have just discovered that the name Risa is already being used be another watch company. We will decide on how to proceed.
Another potential movement partner found
At this point the name will not change. There's no urgency as of now, and it might not be needed. When things get to a certain point, further investigations with the aid of legal support will happen
If it's going to be indefinite we'll see, but probably not for less than 50 years
